Hi , Today's blog is about I think everyone is always thinking how to carry makeup while travelling?? Well through my experience and after wasting quite a bit of money I learnt the hard way how to store & carry makeup while travelling.
First of all you have to be aware of your airline cabin luggage allowance . And always keep in mind what ever bag you choose has to be super extra light . Virtually no weight at all. Because once you start filing up the bag with makeup it will start adding weight to the bag which weighed nothing before. So if your bag weighs already 2 kgs Pre packing then you only have 5 kgs to put in. As most of the airlines allow only 7 kgs per FAA rules.
There s only one company which I know follows the FAA specifications for carry on baggage , ZUCCA. If you go on their website you can find the model which says FAA specifications approved .
So my first most favourite bag is from MAC Makeup Bag .
MAC MAKEUP CARRY BAG. :-
Retails for :- SR 945 . Its available at MAC Pro website or PRO STORES in cities like New York, London etc. Very difficult to find here in jeddah. But if you travel abroad you can pick it up from the PRO MAC OUTLETS.or Can order on Amazon.
This one is shoulder carry bag just like your shoulder bag , comes with adjustable strap. It as lot of pockets outside to slip any last minutes things.
Inside its got diferent sections which is divided and like it . Which makes it easy to put your stuff and organise better. And it has a zipper so protects the stuff from falling out. It also has net slots for storing your brushes one side.
As you open the other side it comes with 3 pouches which transparent makes it easy for you to know what its got. I m a fan of transparent pouches , makes life easier when you looking for stuff .
The best thing about this bag is it has no pre weight of wheels or metal. so gives us enough to put in .
ZUCCA NAVIGATOR CARRY ON BAG:-
ZUCCA bags are one of the most popular bags among the makeup artists worldwide. Because of its popularity and space to store more than require they launched the category which had FAA compliant and very easy for short business trips.
It retails from 299$. The specifications of the bag is it comes with aluminium Alloy Frame light weight super strong with 4"inch lightweight polyurethane wheels which absorbs shocks and make it seriously silent ride.
Mine one when I bought two years back did come with FAA compliant, specifications etc. I bought this in Dubai Mall, from Inglot hence it has inglot name in front. It was on offer and I paid AED 1500 with cover and five pouches which came free with the bag. It s light weight but its original weight without anything inside is around 1.78kgs cos of Frame and wheels. Which I found out on Business Emirates Check in. After packing all the makeup and my hair styling tools the weight was 12 kgs. which is 5 kgs more than cabin baggage allowance . So they asked me to check in my Zucca.
Trust me I was terrified thinking how it will be thrown at the baggage belt in Jeddah. But I was surprised. Nothing broke , all my glass bottles , my palettes , my face powder all was intact. When I unpacked the bag at home I realised it had a cushioning on inside to absorb shocks. So thankfully nothing was broken.
Out of the two If I am traveling abroad I carry Mac Makeup bag. And when I have workshops or Makeup demos in city I prefer Zucca cos I can fit more in it.
OTHERS :-
The other trick I learnt was from MakeupbyMario was , you take Zucca pouches or Inglot makeup Pouches ( which SR100 each), and take your trolley ( SAMSUNG) , organise all your makeup in these pouches and carry as hand luggage or carry on luggage . I did it last time I travelled to UK. Trust me it s so easy, and less hard work. Saves you buying anything fancy if you do not want to invest in special makeup carry bag.
Also when traveling for shoot / wedding Try to take everything less make small palates e.g.: Lip palate with all colours, Blush palates , foundation palate my favourite one is from BOBBI BROWN PRO FOUNDATION Palate. Its goes well with any skin types.
So yeah thats how I carry my makeup when I m traveling in city or when I m traveling abroad.
